Upcoming festivals in Airlie Beach 2021
We love festivals! Last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, many festivals that take place in our beautiful Airlie Beach have been cancelled but guess what? They are all back and with new surprises! So open your calendar and start saving some dates because you would not want to miss these once in a lifetime events.
Airlie Beach Marathon Festival
The iconic Marathon Festival will be held on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of July. There will be 9 different races and all of them will occur along the Airlie Beach and Cannonvale foreshores, so participants will be able to enjoy the amazing views while they challenge themselves.
Each race has been planned to suit every different runner, according to their expertise and ability. So you can choose to run a whole marathon or half of it, 5 km and 10 km races or even participate with your kids in a short and fun race.

Prices vary depending on the race you choose and go from $25 to $200. All registrations close on July, Friday 16th!
Great Barrier Reef Festival
The Great Barrier Reef Festival is the perfect combination of family time, community, tasty food, live music and Whitsundays lifestyle. It is the best way to celebrate that we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
This year is the festival 21st anniversary and like every time, it will take place in the heart of the barrier reef, the vibrant Airlie Beach, from August 5th to the 8th. The organization is currently looking for more volunteers so don't lose your chance to get fully involved!
Whitsunday´s favourite festival guarantees 4-days of entertainment but also education, especially for the youngest. Workshops, parades, streetcar shows, regattas, games, night markets, music stages and more!
Airlie Beach Race Week
Literally one of the most exciting weeks on the Whitsundays calendar! If you never visited Airlie Beach before, this is probably a great opportunity to enjoy amazing days in paradise in a very special way.
The Airlie Beach Race Week starts on August 12th and ends on the 19th. Usually, people around the globe come as spectators or participants and although this year the public will be only Aussies, the fun and emotion will be the same.
The enjoyment not only occurs on water but also on the shore, where plenty of social activities take place like sunset cocktail parties, lunch and dinner events, and perfect spots to watch the race. One of the most iconic events is The Long Lunch & Wine Tasting, a proper culinary event that will be held on Sunday 9th.

Airlie Beach Festival of Music
We really missed our epic Airlie Beach Music Festival last year! Although the artists line up has not been announced yet, we know it's gonna be as great as always. From November 5th to the 7th, Airlie Beach streets, beaches, hostels, restaurants and bars will be converted into music stages with locals and visitors having the time of their lives.
With 34 artists and 16 venues, this music festival offers a complete weekend of live music, beach jams and after-parties. Sounds fun right?
Tickets will be out soon so visit the festival website and stay in the loop! Airlie Beach Music Festival
Whitsundays Arts Festival
Alright, art lovers, this is the festival for you! This three-day celebration of art, from September 17th to the 19th, reveals some of the most beautiful sides of the Whitsundays region: art and community.
Airlie Beach will be full of colours, lights and creative manifestations. A magic weekend where live music, food vans and family activities are also on the menu.
Artists, craft persons and designers are encouraged to set up their market installations, expose their artworks to show the making process too. The whole idea is to inspire others!
Something really special will happen on the 18th, where handcrafted lanterns will illuminate Airlie Beach foreshore. A beautiful lights parade that everyone can join! Pre-workshop tickets are available now on their website: Lantern Parade Workshop.
